Channel 4's Coming Up Scheme
Film London's PULSE scheme has certainly produced some rich talent. A filmmaker through this scheme and friend of Performance, Destiny Ekaragha (Tight Jeans, The Park) recently emailed Head of Performance Andrew Leen to explain her new project:
"As part of Channel 4's Coming Up scheme to showcase up and coming writing and directing talent I have directed THE FUTURE WAGs OF GREAT BRITAIN. The film was written by the brilliant Abby Ajayi and it goes out on Channel 4 on Thursday 19th August 2010 at 23:40pm. It will also be available online on 4 OD.

Please, please save the date, tell your friends and watch it! We have a great cast including Bunmi Mojekwu (Eastenders, Misfits (TV) and Gone Too Far at the Royal Court), Ellen Thomas (Eastenders, Rev, Teachers, Doctor Who and Moses Jones) and Naana Agyei-Ampadu (nominated as Outstanding Newcomer by the Evening Standard Theatre Awards for her role in Been So Long at the Young Vic.)
We had a lot of fun working on the film and it's part of a great line up of Coming Up films so do try to watch them and spread the word and I really hope you enjoy the film."
Performance will be tuning in!
Warner Bros Buy Shed For UK Production Expansion
US interest in the UK production market was emphatically underlined this week when US studio Warner Bros revealed that it is buying independent production firm Shed.
Commenting on the deal, Ronald Goes, Warner Bros heads of international TV production, said: 'The UK is an important market, with a robust, thriving production sector. The acquisition of Shed provides Warner Bros TV Group with immediate scale in UK production and complements our existing production and distribution businesses."
The main shareholders at Shed all stand to do very well out of the deal financially. But there is more to the alliance than that, says Shed chief executive Nick Southgate: "We have found the right partner to support Shed's development and future growth strategy. (Warner Bros) has an unrivalled reputation both creatively and in international distribution."
Meanwhile, another big indie story breaking this week is the news that All3Media, which owns hit shows such as Midsomer Murders and Skins, is acquiring Optmen Television and One Potato Two Potato, the companies behind many of Gordon Ramsay's hit international cooking formats.
All3Media is keen to grow Ramsay formats even further in the US - and will spend up to £40m on the deal.
